Circles of Remembrance
an introduction to sufi invocation
Every month introductory gatherings are usually held in the Zawiya but are currently run on-line in response to the current pandemic. There are separate gatherings for men and women.
This is an opportunity to learn about core Sufi teachings and practices and to take part in a short programme of invocation followed by discussion. Usually we also share a light meal with our guests if the gathering is held in the Zawiya.

INVOCATION AND STUDY
The path to God is a path of both practice and study. The practice of invocation helps to purify the heart and subdue the ego. However the spiritual traveller also needs to deepen in their knowledge of this path and take benefit from the deep wisdom of the Sufi scholars. For this reason every circle of invocation includes a short period of study
samaa (heavenly audition)
Modern life is full of struggles. Mental health issues including varying levels of depression and anxiety are exponentially on the increase due to trauma, abuse, social isolation, bereavement, severe and long term stress, envy and jealousy, and societal pressures amongst other contributory factors.
sufi mindfulnes workshops
These Sufi mindfulness workshops combine modern mindfulness techniques and traditional Sufi teachings on how to become more fully present in the moment. This includes exploring our world of thoughts, feelings and relationships.
sufi invocation for the more experienced
Every week there several different gatherings of invocation, each with its own unique spiritual taste. These may last for two to three hours and are for those who have previous experience of these practices.
Prior to the pandemic there were much shorter programmes for youth and children which we hope will resume in the coming months.
International Gatherings
Every year there are visits to large international gatherings in Europe and Morocco that often attract many thousands of people.
Throughout the day and night there are gatherings of dhikr, qassida, talks. There is a time of spiritual refreshment and companionship as well as a time to relax and refocus on what is of lasting value
Community and cultural exchange
From time to time groups of visitors come to the Zawiya to find out more about the Sufi path, to observe and take part in a light programme of invocation and to exchange ideas and share experiences. This has included groups from different European countries.
